Naomi Alderman est née en 1974 et a grandi dans la communauté orthodoxe d'Hendon, à Londres. Diplômée d'Oxford, elle a travaillé dans l'édition et a vécu plusieurs années à New York. Son premier roman, La Désobéissance, (éditions de l'Olivier, 2008) a été très remarqué à sa sortie et a reçu l'Orange Award for New Writers en 2006.

Né en 1982, Tommy Orange a grandi à Oakland, en Californie, mais ses racines sont en Oklahoma. Il appartient à la tribu des Cheyennes du Sud. Diplômé de l'Institute of American Indian Arts, où il a eu comme professeurs Sherman Alexie et Joseph Boyden, il a fait sensation sur la scène littéraire américaine avec ce premier roman.
